12 hour Yoga Alliance Continuing Education
The pelvic floor muscles (pelvic diaphragm) play a crucial role in the function of your bladder, bowel, sexual & reproductive organs, movements of your hip & pelvis, breathing mechanics & “core”.
This course we will explore common conditions associated with pelvic health and examine the musculoskeletal anatomy of the pelvic girdle, pelvic floor muscles/diaphragm as well as its relationship to the thoracic & vocal diaphragms through breathing & vocalization. Through experiential practices involving physical posture (asana) and breathing practices, students will gain an intimate understanding of their own anatomy and how to connect to their pelvic floor.
Yoga instructors will learn various ways to cue their students to engage their pelvic floor during their yoga classes, as well as explore various asana beneficial for lengthening & assisting in relaxation.
This course is not intended to treat, diagnose or heal any pelvic floor conditions.
