Course Description

12 hour Yoga Alliance Continuing Education

What is pain?  How do some people get into a state of chronic pain?  How can we help them get out of pain?

Pain is complicated & personal – not all lower back pain, for example, is caused & perpetuated by the same trauma and movement.  Therefore, the therapy for two individuals lower back pain may not be the same!

This course provides in-depth integration of pain science, the Nervous System & Polyvagal theory and yoga practices. Participants will gain a solid foundation in pain science, and yoga techniques related to self-regulating ones nervous system to re-pattern the pain cycle and help clients/students manage their pain.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Have a deeper understanding of chronic pain and pain neurophysiology
  • Have tangible tools & techniques to offer, in order to help their client/student increase their success of recovery and function, including breathing and body awareness techniques and yoga postures

Evolution and growth of the mind, body and spirit comes only from life-long learning with one another.  As a Certified Yoga Therapist, Chelsea believes whole-heartedly in experiential learning with and from her students & clients. She strives to empower others with knowledge and skills necessary for creating a meaningful change in their own experience.   She is the Yoga Therapy Program Director at the Vancouver School of Healing Arts and offers private Yoga Therapy at Chelsea Lee Yoga Therapy in Squamish. When she’s not teaching or practicing yoga, you can find Chelsea exploring the beautiful mountains and forest of the Sea-to-Sky corridor!

Admissions

No prior knowledge or experience is required.

Cancellation Policy

Tuition is fully refundable until one week prior to the course at which point no refunds will be made. If a student is unable to attend for any reason, payment received will be kept on file as a credit and can be used for any other VSOHA program or course within one year.
