What Sets Us Apart?
Renowned Faculty
Our faculty read like a who’s who of the most senior yoga instructors in Western Canada. Individuals like Sjanie McInnis are so experienced that they have taught some of the most experienced and famous instructors on the west coast.
Program Director, Chantall Russell and Senior instructor, Rebekka Walker (who is also our Director for Yoga Therapy)have run integrated and holistic yoga practices for decades, have owned and run their own studios, and bring a cross-disciplinary approach to teaching along with a very respectful way to frame the practice of yoga to ensure appropriation is not occurring and that the craft we are teaching is in honour of the fundamental elements of yoga.
Weekend & Hybrid Learning
Our blended delivery includes both in-class and online components, making it easier to balance your studies with your personal and professional life. Our online classes are taught synchronously through Zoom, ensuring real-time interaction and engagement two evenings per week. Our in-person classes are taught on the weekend, a full day on Saturday and just a half-day on Sunday. This helps have time to take care of your personal family, friends, and work commitments.
Exceptional Education Standards and Reputation!
With over 200 glowing 5-star reviews on the website of the world’s most renowned Yoga accrediting body, the Yoga Alliance, our reputation that we have built over twenty years is a testament to the quality and depth of our training (We were previously known as the Vancouver School of Yoga from 2008 to 2015, before transitioning to VSOHA).
Comprehensive Curriculum that really Helps you Learn How to Teach!
Our program blends personal growth with professional development. You’ll gain a thorough understanding of yogic philosophy, breathwork, meditation, biomechanics, and teaching methodology. Most importantly, we are a college, not a yoga studio. Our programs are approved by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Future Skills, through the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB), and we are inspected as part of the province’s commitment to students in B.C.
This means that we must honour a refund policy that is approved by PTIB, that we respect students as indicated by our Student Statement of Rights, and that we have and follow a Dispute Resolution Policy. Yoga studios that offer yoga teacher training, who are not registered with PTIB, may not have these elements that can give you assurances and comfort that the school you are attending must meet standards that are reviewed externally.
Student Loans and Financing
Because our porgrams meet educational standards that are requisite for a college’s program to be approved for student loans, students in Canada can apply to have their Yoga Teacher Training – Enriched (240hr) funded through Student Loans. We also offer flexible payment options, where students can break their payments up into three equal payments, if needed.
