After graduating from VSOHA’s Bodywork Therapy program, Danelle Ross made a promise to herself. “I decided for that year, I’m going to say yes to everything that comes to me: A Year of Yes!”
Her commitment found her working in bodywork and massage for companies all over Canada, including at a Heli-ski Lodge, Scandinave Spa in Whistler and the West Coast Fishing Lodge in Haida Gwaii. “In between, I kept coming back to the school wearing multiple hats. I have seen a lot of different teachers and practitioners at work, some of our oldest faculty to the very newest,” Danelle said.
Working at VSOHA
Danelle has been a Teacher’s Assistant in the Weekend Intro to Massage and in the Bodywork Therapy Program for the Integrative Bodywork, Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage and Aromatherapy modules. She also currently works at Hälsa Spa in Kitsilano.
“What stands out for me at VSOHA is the curriculum. The body-mind connection, the amount of hands-on practice time and the invaluable experience you get from the feedback you receive,” Danelle said.
Danelle now joins the faculty as a Swedish Massage instructor. She will co-instruct the module with Bodywork Therapy Program Director Marie Salton. The new co-teaching model gives students additional feedback, hands on adjustments and a higher teacher to student ratio.
Program Director – Marie Salton
“Danelle excelled as a student in Bodywork Therapy and has a great understanding of the program as a whole. As a more recent graduate, she has her finger on the pulse when it comes to what students need. She breaks down her knowledge of anatomy and the hands-on components of bodywork and massage in a practical, easy to understand way.” Marie said.
Marie and Danelle are excited to collaborate and give students the best of both worlds; Marie, a seasoned professional with years of experience and Danelle, a fresh perspective who embodies all the different directions students can take after graduating.
